Taking SNO+ shifts from home

After the SNO+ control room at LIP, our colleagues from the LIP SNO+ group now control the SNO+ detector from home. By the way, SNO+ has just been renewed as a CERN recognised experiment for three more years. Congratulations!

Computing at (virtual) LIP

Did we work less during telework? No!
At least this is not visible in computing resources usage graphs. The plots show the number of accesses to LIP machines and of jobs in the farm. In both of team, you see a slight Easter effect in April, but no sign of the lockdown, which started in March 13.

Updating the research group info on the LIP website

The texts introducing the research groups, competence centers or infrastructures in the LIP website are an important visiting card. They should be concise and understandable by those who visit us. This is particularly important in view of the ongoing evaluation of the research units.

Please remember these texts can be updated directly in the LIP database.

      Interacting with cLIP

      Share your views with us!

In this issue, we try to catch up and to fix some loose ends from previous editions:

      • April theme: Pandemic & lockdown times

      • 1.  What was/is your biggest concern during this period?
Was it health concerns? Or did you get locked in the "wrong" country/place?
Did your contract end in the meantime? Or the next one will not start?
        Was telework stressful?
Please tell us what you wish about that!

        Please fill in this form

      • May theme: LIP's birthday month

      • 2.  LIP future word cloud - After receiving some contributions, the word cloud was improved. Please participate, even if you did it before... you only have to select 6 words!
        Please fill in this form

      • June theme: The EPPSU

      • 3.  HEP future open word cloud - On the event of the 2020 ESPPU, please write down 6 words on what you think are the best options for the future of particle physics
        Please fill in this form

      • 3.  Two students from a Design course at IEFP-Instituto do Emprego e Formação Profissional were at LIP for a 2-week internship and were given the following challenges:

      •  a)  Develop a set of coherent but distinctive logos for LIP's infrastructures, to be used in all kinds of applications: web page, portfolio, signage, email signatures, merchandising...

      • b)  Develop a logo to be used in different kinds of outreach activities at LIP, also for different applications such as: web page, social media, posters, merchandising...

See the result here or scroll to the next section.
Please rate (a) and (b) from 1 to 5 in the following parameters:

        • Usefulness
        • Logo conception
        • Aesthetics
        • Relation to LIP
