Workshop attendees may receive messages by way of a bulletin board
that will be located in the lobby of the Congress Center, where
the workshop sessions are being held. People wishing to leave
messages for workshop attendees can do so by calling the Hotels.
Workshop assistance or information
Several Workshop Committee people will be available as Helpers and

A room will be provided with several text-only terminals, a few
B/W X-terminals, one PC, one MacIntosh, one unix workstation and

Serial RS232 and Ethernet connections will also be made available

Any particular needs for last-minute transparencies preparation
with editing or presentation software (for MAC or PC) should be
communicated to the local organization well in advance in order to
try to provide for their availability (E-mail: gomes@lipulsi.lip.pt).
One video projector, one slide projector, one overhead projector
and a white board will be available in the Auditorium. Speakers
needing video or slide projectors should inform the organizers no

Photocopying needs
We recommend that speakers come with paper copies of their transparencies.
Further copies will be done by the secretarial staff at the
registration desk. You can place your document(s) in the incoming
copy basket after filling out the paperwork. The copies will be
placed in the outgoing copy basket when they are completed.
Telephone communications
The usual prefix for calling Portugal from abroad is 351 plus city
code (1 for Lisbon).
Lunch
One self-service restaurant with about 120 seats and one snack-bar
are available at the building of the Congress Center. Although
these facilities are usually shared by students and professors, at
the time of the workshop there will be few of them as there are no
courses.
In the immediate neighborhood of the Congress Center there are
several restaurants and snack-bars of different categories and prices.
Morning sessions will stop at 12.30 p.m. and you are advised to
immediately go to one of these restaurants if you don't want to
miss the afternoon session scheduled at 2.00 p.m. sharp.
Try to arrive there before 1.00p.m. to avoid the rush.
More information will be provided at the Workshop.
Emergency assistance
A First-Aid kit will be available at the secretariat. The national
toll-free emergency number is 115.
