25 years of particle physics with the CERN ATLAS experience

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the ATLAS collaboration, LIP organizes lectures in its three nodes, in Lisbon, Coimbra and Braga, where we discover the reasons for the construction of the LHC and its experiments, and follow the long journey since then, including its biggest triumph so far: the discovery of the Higgs boson. A key part of this event is the celebration of the career of Prof. Amélia Maio, who initiated the Portuguese participation in the ATLAS experiment.

Amélia's Party

Celebrating four decades of Amélia Maio's career on the 25th anniversary of the ATLAS Experiment

In the celebration of the anniversary of the ATLAS experiment, it is essential to speak of the Portuguese participation, initiated by Prof. Amélia Maio. The research led by Prof. Amélia Maio in the field of calorimetry for more than four decades has allowed Portugal to play an important role in this collaboration and to participate in its great triumphs.
