LIP against Covid-19

Face Protection visors to be used by healthcare professionals were developed at LIP. The motivations were the evident need for this type of equipment, but also an idea of reusing materials left over from the production of the MASRTA cosmic ray detectors. The masks are being produced with the voluntary collaboration of mechanical workshop staff, available to help from the first hour.
A few prototypes were initially produced (the visors are, in some respects, non-standard) and tested/validated with health professionals at the Hospital do Covões, in Coimbra. A batch of 110 units was then produced (see photo) and was now delivered to Covões for intensive use. After full validation, we hope to produce more for those who need it. The idea is to make the service available to DGS, and to register LIP in an appropriate website.
