Fabiola Gianotti remains as CERN DG
"The CERN Council has just appointed Fabiola Giannoti for a second mandate as Director-General"
In a press release issued today, CERN annouces that the CERN Council selected Fabiola Gianotti, as the Organization’s next Director-General, for her second term of office. The appointment will be formalised at the December session of the Council, and the new five-year term of office will begin on 1 January 2021.
"I am deeply grateful to the CERN Council for their renewed trust. It is a great privilege and a huge responsibility,” said Fabiola Gianotti. The president of the Council, Ursula Bassler, declared herself "delighted" that "CERN will continue to benefit from her strong leadership and experience, especially for important upcoming projects ".
Among many other distinctions, Fabiola Gianotti was recently awarded the Helena Vaz da Silva European Prize. The award ceremony is scheduled for 25 November at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.
