15th IDPASC Summer School brings together around 60 students in Brazil
"The largest edition to date of the IDPASC network’s school, supported by LIP, runs until 29 July in Natal."
LIP is once again supporting the IDPASC Summer School, whose 15th edition is taking place from 20 to 29 July at the International Institute of Physics of the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, in Natal, Brazil.
Organised by the Brazilian Centre for Physics Research (CBPF), SPRACE and the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), within the framework of the IDPASC network, this is the largest edition of the school to date, bringing together around 60 students.
Most participants are from Brazil, with the school also welcoming students from Colombia, Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Ecuador, Spain and France, reflecting the initiative’s growing international reach.
Over ten days, participants have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in areas such as Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology through a programme combining lectures, practical sessions, group projects and scientific discussions.
Topics covered include the Standard Model, physics beyond the Standard Model, dark matter, neutrinos, heavy-ion collisions, gravitational waves, instrumentation and experimental techniques, cosmology, astrophysics, and applications of machine learning to physics.
The scientific programme includes contributions from internationally renowned researchers, giving students direct contact with specialists conducting research at the frontiers of knowledge.
Created within the framework of the International Doctorate Network in Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology (IDPASC), the school aims to contribute to the training of the next generation of researchers and to strengthen international scientific collaboration in these fields.
During this edition, the organisers also paid tribute to LIP researcher Mário Pimenta, one of the founders of the IDPASC network, in recognition of his contribution to the development and consolidation of the programme over the years.
LIP is a member of the IDPASC network and continues to support this advanced training initiative, helping to create opportunities for learning, scientific exchange and collaboration among young researchers from different countries.
