LIP at the National Forum for Ciência Viva Clubs in Schools
"Visitors were able to explore a cloud chamber, an ATLAS-themed pinball machine, a PET prototype, the FLASHGuard model and an exoplanet model."

LIP took part in the National Forum for Ciência Viva Clubs in Schools, held on 27 March at the National Exhibition Centre in Santarém.
At the LIP stand, visitors were able to observe particle tracks in a cloud chamber and discover an ATLAS-themed pinball machine, inspired by CERN’s ATLAS experiment and designed to help explain how a particle accelerator works.

Visitors could also explore a PET prototype for brain imaging, see the FLASHGuard model, associated with the development of technology for FLASH radiotherapy, and discover an exoplanet model focused on the study of planets beyond the Solar System.
The forum was an opportunity to showcase different areas of LIP’s work to schools, teachers and clubs that promote science in educational settings, through hands-on experiences, models and demonstrators that make research more tangible and accessible.
