FLASHGuard wins first prize at the Lispolis Ignite Demo Day
"The team received the Healthtech Lisboa Award, worth EUR 4 000, granted in the 3rd edition of a programme supporting technological innovation in the healthcare sector"

The Lispolis Ignite programme supports early-stage technology projects through business model validation, specialised mentoring and a final presentation before a jury. FLASHGuard was selected as the winning project of this edition.
The FLASHGuard team includes Miguel Ferreira, José Carlos Nogueira, Pedro Assis, Gonçalo Roriz, Gonçalo Ribeiro, Manuel Ratola, Bernardo Tomé, Patrícia Gonçalves, Carlota Pataca, Francisco Cavaco and Eduarda Cunha.
Developed within LIP’s Particles4Health group, led by Pedro Assis, FLASHGuard provides a solution for real-time monitoring of high-intensity radiation pulses, a central requirement of FLASH radiotherapy. The technology adapts detection and instrumentation principles derived from particle physics to meet the demands of this emerging therapeutic regime.
This distinction adds to several recognitions obtained by the project in 2025. FLASHGuard won the Lab2Market programme promoted by Instituto Superior Técnico, secured CaixaImpulse Innovation funding from the “la Caixa” Foundation , selected from 428 applications from Portugal and Spain, and recently won the 2025 Youth Start-Up Competition (YSC), a flagship initiative of the European Commission under the European SME Week.
In this edition of Lispolis Ignite, the second prize was awarded to FLASH – Rapid Diagnostics (CNS Prize), and the third to Enterprise Bot, which received one year of incubation and mentoring at Lispolis. The programme also included the teams UpSpeech, Balvia Ecosystems, Exercogs®, ConsentH, Mena.ai, Reabilitar em Casa, Hopli and Lyvoo.
