CERN Summer Student Programmes 2025
"The applications are now open."
CERN is offering new opportunities for Bachelor’s and Master’s students to participate in its 2025 Summer Student Programmes. These programmes are designed to provide hands-on experience in a world-renowned scientific environment, combining advanced technical projects with educational and networking activities.
CERN Summer Student Programme
This flagship programme invites students pursuing degrees in Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Mathematics to join CERN for 8 to 13 weeks during the summer. Participants will contribute to cutting-edge technical projects and engage in a comprehensive educational programme that includes lectures by leading experts, visits to CERN facilities, and workshops. Applicants must have completed at least six semesters of full-time university studies in a relevant field by summer 2025.
CERN Openlab Summer Student Programme
For students with a strong computing background, this programme offers a unique 9-week internship focused on advanced IT projects. Participants will have access to a specialized series of IT lectures while also having the option to attend the general CERN Summer Student lectures.
Both programmes are open to students from CERN Member States, Associate Member States, and Non-Member States. Applicants must demonstrate a good command of English and meet the specific academic requirements for their chosen programme.
Applications for both programmes must be submitted by 26 January 2025, 23:59 (CET). Detailed instructions and links to the application portals can be found on the CERN website at:
CERN offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work at the forefront of scientific discovery while developing professional skills in a collaborative, international environment. Students will receive a daily allowance, travel reimbursement, and health insurance coverage during their stay in Geneva.
