LIP at ENEF 2024
"LIP was present at the National Meeting of Physics Students, boosting the initiative's program "
Last February, the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (FCUL) hosted the National Meeting of Physics Students (ENEF).
The Laboratory of Instrumentation and Experimental Particle Physics (LIP) was present and contributed to several exciting moments at the meeting, which took place between the 15th and 18th.
Among the various activities, the following stand out:
- A visit by a group of students to the LIP facilities in Lisbon, giving them the opportunity to get to know the various laboratories, including LOMAC;
- The contribution of LIP PhD students: Francisco Geraldes Barba and Ricardo Silva took part in a discussion entitled "A theorist and an experimentalist collide into a bar", while André Torcato addressed the topic "A master's and PhD in theoretical particle physics in Portugal: Why?";
- The participation of researchers Inês Ochoa, António Amorim and Ana Arriaga presenting the topics "Particle physics and the LHC", "Displacements and oscillations in large telescopes" and "From Atomic Nuclei to Quarks: A difficult and fascinating journey", respectively;
- The workshop entitled "Masterclasses in Particle and Astroparticle Physics", led by Pedro Abreu, a researcher at LIP.
It was a privilege to take part in ENEF 24. See you at the next meeting!
