Ciência Viva internships at LIP 2022
"As usual, LIP hosted internships within the program Ciência Viva in the Laboratory. For two weeks eight secondary school students participated in a variety of activities related to LIP´s research areas."
The topics covered ranged from particle and astroparticle physics to social physics, through particle detectors and their applications to medicine. Like the topics, also the proposed activities were varied: from lectures on various topics to the construction of simple detectors to observe particle traces, through the analysis of real data from various experiments, from the Pierre Auger Observatory to the LHC . Sofia Andringa and Pedro Abreu were the supervisors, but several other researchers from LIP participated.
This year, the internship welcomed a group of eight high school students (four from the 11th grade and four from the 12th grade), with absolute gender parity. We thank them all for the commitment and enthusiasm, and wish all the best or the future!
