International Day of Women and Girls in Science
"February 11 was established as IDWGS by the United Nations in 2015. LIP joins the celebration! "
According to the United Nations, less than 30% of scientists worldwide are women. Although at school level girls and boys have similar performances in the different scientific areas, girls tend not to choose careers associated with science, engineering and technology (STEM). As a factor of inequality, with consequences for society, the United Nations declared February 11th as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.
LIP and CERN join this day of celebration of science and of women who every day contribute directly or indirectly to the increase of scientific knowledge.
