Portuguese Official Visit to CERN
"The Minister of Science, the President of FCT and the Secretary of State for Internationalization are visiting CERN, accompanied by the LIP Directorate and several LIP researchers"
The Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Manuel Heitor, the Secretary of State for Internationalization, Eurico Brilhante and the President of the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), Helena Pereira, are visiting CERN on the 3rd and 4th of September. The visit is accompanied by the Portuguese Delegate at the CERN Council and President of LIP, Mário Pimenta, and the Portuguese Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva, Rui Macieira.
The visit aims to reinforce the Portuguese presence at CERN in its scientific, technological and industrial aspects, in particular concerning the full exploitation of the opportunities created by the LHC accelerator upgrade program by Portuguese companies.
The delegation includes representatives from several other Portuguese institutions, namely universities, innovation, investment and internationalization agencies, and companies. We highlight the presence of the LIP Directorate and of representatives of our stakeholders: in addition to the President and Vice President of FCT, will accompany the visit the Rector of the University of Minho, Rui Vieira de Castro, the Vice Rector of the University of Coimbra , Luís Simões, the President of IST, Arlindo Oliveira, the President of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon, Luís Carriço, and the President of ANIMEE, Carlos Cardoso, accompany the visit.
