LIP presents scientific contributions at LHCP 2026

LIP ECO/Andreia Pacheco | 01 Junho, 2026

"In Paris, LIP’s participation included an invited plenary talk, contributions to thematic sessions and a poster recognised with the Best Poster Award."

Several members of LIP participated in the 14th edition of the Large Hadron Collider Physics Conference - LHCP 2026, held in Paris, France, from 18 to 22 May 2026.

LHCP is one of the major international conferences in high-energy physics, bringing together experimentalists and theorists to discuss the latest developments in collider physics. The scientific programme covered recent results from the LHC Run II and Run III (the second and third data-taking periods of the LHC), as well as future perspectives in areas such as Standard Model and Beyond Standard Model physics, Higgs physics, heavy flavour, heavy-ion collisions, and future collider developments.

LIP had a strong participation in the conference across several scientific areas.

Liliana Apolinário, leader of the Phenomenology group, delivered an invited plenary review talk entitled “Recent Theory Developments in Heavy Ion Physics”, presenting recent advances in the theoretical understanding of the Quark-Gluon Plasma formation and jet quenching phenomena.

João Pires, member of the Phenomenology group, gave an invited parallel talk in the joint QCD and Electroweak session on “Strong coupling determinations from jet cross sections”.

Giacomo Da Molin, PhD student in the CMS group, presented a parallel talk in the Top Physics session entitled “Searches for the violation of the flavor symmetries in the top quark sector by CMS”.

Marco Leitão, PhD student in the Phenomenology group, presented a poster entitled “In-medium QCD splittings beyond the soft, large-Nc and harmonic-oscillator approximations all at once”. His contribution was further distinguished with the conference Best Poster Award, selected among 65 posters presented during the event.
