Master's Thesis Defense
"Alexandre Parreira, a student at the University of Lisbon and LIP, successfully defended his master's thesis. The work was carried out within the ATLAS group at LIP. Congratulations to the new Master! "

On July 31st, 2025, Alexandre Parreira, a Master's student at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (FCUL) and a member of the LIP ATLAS group, successfully defended his thesis titled:
"Development of the ATLAS-High Granularity Timing Detector Interlock Monitoring System".
The thesis focused on the development and functionality of the monitoring system for the High-Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) of the ATLAS experiment, which is being prepared for the High-Luminosity phase of the LHC. The work included the implementation of the Mon-FPGA module, responsible for tracking all safety-related signals exchanged with the HGTD, as well as monitoring temperature data from the LGAD sensors.
The thesis was supervised by Helena Santos (LIP) and José Augusto (LIP/FCUL). The examination committee included Chen Wen Chao (University of Montreal), Manuel Abreu (FCUL), and Helena Santos (LIP).
Congratulations, Alexandre, on your excellent work!
