Marco Pinto joins international committee for JUICE and Europa Clipper missions
"LIP specialist elected to the committee aiming to maximise the scientific return of ESA and NASA missions to Jupiter and its moons. "

Researcher Marco Pinto, member of LIP’s El-Lab and SpaceRad groups, was recently elected to the JUICE-Clipper Steering Committee (JCSC) — an international working group that brings together scientists from ESA’s JUICE mission and NASA’s Europa Clipper mission. The election took place in May 2025 and acknowledges Marco’s contributions in the field of space radiation environments.
The JCSC is tasked with identifying unique scientific opportunities through the joint exploration of data from the two missions, both dedicated to the study of Jupiter and its moons, with the goal of maximising their scientific return.
Marco Pinto’s appointment reflects his recognized expertise in radiation environments in space, particularly through his involvement in the BepiColombo mission to Mercury, where he is part of the science team for the European component.
This appointment is yet another example of LIP’s active role in the field of space environments and radiation effects, contributing to major international missions led by leading space agencies such as ESA and NASA.
Congratulations to Marco Pinto on this well-deserved recognition!
