PhD thesis defense

The PhD work of Guilherme Pereira is entitled "Continuous monitoring and calibration for the LZ experiment" and was supervised by Cláudio Silva and Vladimir Solovov, both members of LIP’s Dark Matter group, in Coimbra.It should be noted that the thesis was defended on LIP’s anniversary day!
The members of the jury were Joaquim Santos (president, FCTUC), Henrique Araújo (Imperial College), Kimberly Palladino (University of Oxford), Tina Pollmam (University of Amsterdam), José Maneira (LIP), João Rendeiro Cardoso (FCTUC), Isabel Lopes (FCTUC/LIP) and Vladimir Solovov.
The LZ dark matter search experiment is installed at a depth of 1.5 kilometres in a former gold mine converted into a laboratory, SURF - Sanford Underground Research Facility, in the USA. LZ began collecting data in 2022. Its first results have demonstrated the detector's unprecedented sensitivity. LIP is a founding member of the LZ collaboration and has made numerous key contributions to the experiment – among them the one described in Guilherme Pereira's thesis.
