Master thesis defense
"André Cordeiro, from the LIP PHENO Group, defended his MSc thesis today at Técnico, obtaining the highest classification. Congratulations!"
André Cordeiro developed his master thesis titled “Towards time ordered parton showers” in the context of the activities of the LIP Phenomenology Group. The thesis consists of theoretical and phenomenological developments that address the space-time structure of a parton shower in the presence of a quark gluon plasma. The work led to paper published in an international scientific journal [1] in which a methodology to access different structures of parton showers is proposed. These results will allow for increased precision in heavy ion studies currently carried out at the LHC and RHIC accelerators.
The research work was supervised by Liliana Apolinário (LIP/IST) and Guilherme Milhano (LIP/IST). The members of the jury were Teresa Peña (LIP/IST) as president, Fabio Dominguez (USC) and Liliana Apolinário (LIP/IST).
