Project summary
The Project is a collaborative undertaking towards the realisation of an autonomous and highperformance bioanalytical surveillance ‘sentinel’ technology to sample, detect and timely identify bacterial biowarfare agents within an established secure perimeter. Our vision is to develop and equip unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) with advanced nano and optical technology capable of rapid detection and identification of pathogen bacteria or spores with the potential to affect human health and be exploited in bioterrorism. To deliver our vision, this proposal brings together a multi-disciplinary team of experts from United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Portugal, with a track record of innovations in biosensors, microbiology, microfluidics and instrumentation physics.
