------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Speaker: Max Chertok (U of California at Davis, USA) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Title: "Searches for Exotic physics with tau leptons" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Abstract: Tau leptons raise challenges for analysis at hadron colliders but also hold promise for sensitivity to exotic phenomena. Higgs and Supersymmetry models in particular predict enhanced couplings to the third generation particles due to the heavy top mass and appreciable slepton mixing. To escape overwhelming hadronic backgrounds at the Tevatron and LHC, lepton-based searches for exotics are performed. Inclusion of tau triggers and dedicated reconstruction of hadronic tau decays allows extended sensitivity to previously uncovered regions of exotics parameter space. In this talk, I present the status and plans for this analysis program with results and projections from CDF and CMS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
