Site validation is a process that aims to verify that testbed sites are correctly installed and configured. The installation and configuration of grid middleware is a complex task that includes the setup of several distinct components. The installation and configuration effort is made even more difficult due to continuous development and enhancing of the grid technology.

In order to improve the site and overall testbed stability each newly deployed site is verified prior to be considered production ready. The procedure is followed for both new sites and sites being upgraded. Site validation requests should be sent to grid.support@lip.pt accompanied by information about the site including:

  • Site name and location
  • Site contact
  • Site description:
    •  CE full qualified name and IP address
    •  SE full qualified name and IP address

More information can be found in the web pages of the production and development testbeds

Site validation tools
To help the site verification effort a tool named "Host Check" was developed and is being used within task 4.4 to verify all sites automatically and generated reports in HTML format.

Besides the automated tests many other verifications must be performed manually by the test team in order to identify or isolate the origin of the problems observed at each site.

Once sites are considered stable and well configured they are registered or allowed to register into the CrossGrid Information Index.
