LIP at NEI 2022 in three towns

Once more this year, LIP will participate in the European Researchers' Night (NEI) in Braga (Altice Forum Braga), Coimbra (downtown) and Lisbon (Príncipe Real).
The focus will be on particles, which in fact are part of our everyday life, on the detectors that allow us to "see" them, and on the experiments and observatories in which scientists seek to know more about our Universe - from the infinitely small to the infinitely large. It's already this Friday, September 30, from 17:00 to midnight.
Next Monday, 3 October, at 21:00, we present the movie "Particle Fever" at Teatro Académico Gil Vicente, in Coimbra. In the year that marks the tenth anniversary of the discovery of the Higgs boson at CERN's LHC, the film tells the story of this discovery. The account is largely from the point of view of the ATLAS experiment, which together with CMS announced the discovery on July 4, 2012.
The film will be followed by a discussion/debate, with the UC professors Constança Providência, Carlos Fiolhais and Ricardo Gonçalo (also LIP researcher and member of the ATLAS experiment). Entrance is free and the film will be subtitled in Portuguese.
Also on 30 September at 22:00 LIP's PhD student Duarte Guerreiro will participate in the Astronomical Jam Session at Pavilhão do Conhecimento.
