"LIP researcher Inês Ochoa presented today at the LHC Experiments Committee (LHCC) meeting the status and preparation for operations of the ATLAS experiment "
The open session of the 146th meeting of the LHC Experimemts Committee (LHCC) was held today. The meeting took place entirely in remote mode. As usual, the session started with a presentation on the status and progress of the accelerator, and included a presentation from each experiment: ALICE, CMS, ATLAS, LHCb, and also from the RD53 project, a joint ATLAS and CMS effort to develop readout electronics for the future high-luminosity phase HL-LHC.
Our colleague Inês Ochoa presented the status of the full ATLAS experiment and of the preparations for operation. In the image we see a moment in the presentation in which the researcher is discussing the search for the production of a pair of Higgs bosons. Observing this process is a very ambitious goal that will require powerful analysis methods and a large amount of data - at least according to the Standard Model of particle physics.
The session agenda and presented slides can be found here.
