Distinction in Didactics of Physics
"Matteo Pisano, PhD student at the CMS-LIP group, was distinguished for his work in physics didactics together with Michela Occhetto, secondary school teacher in Italy"
For several years Matteo Pisano has been giving Physics courses at the secondary school in Italy (students aged 14-19) that he attended himself as a student, in collaboration with Michela Occhetto, who was his physics teacher in that school. Also this year classes are taking place, although in remote mode. Recently, they sent the program of the course to a didactics competition and it was selected among the most interesting projects.
Today they made a small presentation about the project at the PLS conference (Piano Lauree Scientifiche) aiming to bring new physics teaching techniques to secondary school teachers. The course they presented is part of the so-called theme D: how to use the physics laboratory, and includes advanced statistics and data analysis techniques. In April, an article on the project will be published.
Recently, Matteo Pisano's communication at the National Physics Conference in Italy, entitled "Study of central exclusive production of top quark-antiquark pairs at LHC", was among those awarded with the publication in Nuovo Cimento, which should happen soon.
